Simon has been Director of the NAO’s value-for-money studies on the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero since February 2023, and prior to that was the value-for-money director for the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy since April 2021. Simon has recently directed studies on government support for biomass, carbon capture utilisation and storage, and decarbonising home heating. Previously, Simon coordinated the NAO’s early value-for-money work on the government’s net zero target, including leading its report assessing the cross-government coordination arrangements, which published in December 2020.
