Ruth Wood is the CEO of Mersey Maritime, which is the UK’s leading regional maritime cluster, bringing together industry, government and academia to champion, grow and support the maritime sector across the Liverpool City Region and greater North West. Mersey Maritime is strategically focused on driving opportunities, funding and investment in maritime decarbonisation, digitisation, and addressing the careers, skills, DE&I required to support growth.

Ruth is a member of the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Business & Enterprise Board (September 2023-2025).

Ruth is a commercial and marketing professional with over 15 years’ experience working specifically in the maritime and logistics sector. Prior to joining Mersey Maritime, Ruth worked at Peel Ports Group and was part of a team that delivered the business case, commercial strategy, and marketing for the Port of Liverpool’s £400m deep-water container terminal; Liverpool2.

She was appointed CEO of Mersey Maritime in 2023 having previously been Head of Commercial (2018-23).
