Prof. Ed Hawkins MBE is a climate scientist in the National Centre for Atmospheric Science at the University of Reading. He was a Lead Author for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 6th Assessment Report published in 2021 and was appointed MBE in 2019 for services to climate science & science communication. His research examines how and why the climate has changed since the industrial revolution, and how it may change over the coming decades. Ed also actively engages with a variety of audiences about climate change, especially on social media and using novel graphical visualisations such as the Warming Stripes.
