Alasdair Lumsden is the co-founder of Carbon Neutral Fuels, a startup developing an innovative Power-to-Liquid ‘e-fuels’ technology for the production of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), a drop in replacement to fossil jet fuel that holds the promise of seamlessly decarbonising the aviation sector.

A consortium led by CNF, in conjunction with io consulting (acting as engineering partner) and Mission Zero Technologies (acting as Direct Air Capture partner) was awarded £1.4m in September 2023 by the UK Department for Transport's Advanced Fuels Fund to advance their designs for a commercial scale facility that will produce 25,000 tonnes of SAF per annum when operational later this decade.

Alasdair believes that e-fuels offer a huge opportunity for the UK given that hundreds of these facilities will be needed worldwide to meet decarbonisation targets. Alasdair believes that energy is the key to human prosperity, and that climate change can be solved through innovation and collaboration.
