Promethean Particles

Promethean Particles is a UK-based global pioneer, leading the industrial-scale manufacture of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) and specialty nanomaterials. The company is primarily focused on developing MOFs to fight climate change, particularly for carbon capture and storage (“CCS”) applications. Compared to existing technologies, MOF-based CCS has the potential to deliver increased energy-efficiency, smaller operating footprint, and an improved EHS profile. Promethean is collaborating with several organisations to test MOFs in real-world environments, where results to-date demonstrate the advantages of MOFs. Larger-scale MOF-based CCS demonstration units are now planned on the path to full-scale implementation.

Promethean has developed continuous-flow reactors, which improve throughput and cost whilst increasing process reliability. Promethean operates the world’s largest multi-nanomaterial manufacturing plant at its site in Nottingham.
