IDRIC, the UK Industrial Decarbonisation Research and Innovation Centre, is the focal point of the green transformation in the UK’s industrial heartlands. IDRIC is led by UKRI Industrial Decarbonisation Champion, Prof. Mercedes Maroto-Valer, with a central team delivering key functions, including policy and skills, knowledge exchange and business development. Powered by research and innovation and funded by UKRI, IDRIC supports the development of innovative decarbonisation solutions at pace and scale in the places where it matters most. Informed by a whole-systems approach, IDRIC’s research programme addresses key cross-cutting challenges of industrial decarbonisation. IDRIC supports the development and deployment of low carbon technologies in areas such as fuel switching, energy storage, hydrogen, CCUS and negative emissions technologies.
