Adaptavate is answering the urgent call to decarbonise construction globally, by developing the carbon-negative technologies and products needed, and the industrial ecosystem to deploy them fast, anywhere in the world.  

The business is focused on commercialising its patented, scalable Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) processes that result in significant potential for carbon removal on a global scale. Adaptavate’s flagship products, Breathaplasta and Breathaboard serve as sustainable alternatives to traditional construction materials, embodying the company’s vision for an ecologically regenerative and economically profitable future.  

Breathaboard is a bio-based, carbon sequestering alternative to one of the most widely used construction products, plasterboard. It is produced, specified and installed in the same way but with carbon and performance benefits. Breathaboard saves approximately 4 kg of carbon dioxide per square metre over gypsum plasterboard.  

Adaptavate is working with the British Board of Agrément (BBA) and is on track to achieve the BBA Agrément Certificate for Breathaboard, the UK’s first carbon sequestering alternative to plasterboard. 

Adaptavate’s next step is consolidating partnerships to scale its technology with the world’s largest manufacturers. This will enable the manufacture of carbon-negative construction products anywhere in the world, using locally available resources and absorbing locally created CO2.
