Nature-based solutions | EcoAct project audit | Marajó project
In November 2021, EcoActors Sara Campanales and Josh Holland travelled to Brazil's Amazon river basin to audit the Marajó project, which aims to preserve around 86,000 hectares of rainforest and improve the social and environmental conditions of the communities that live in the area. For four days, the EcoActors travelled by boat across Amazonian rivers to meet with several different communities and learn about the project's activities. Here are just a few examples of the Marajó project’s impact: 🌿 The creation of an organic açai cooperative 🐠 The creation of fish tanks to enhance food security and create sustainable livelihoods ♻ Financial support to a local school providing training in sustainable agricultural and forestry practices 🌳 The construction of tree nurseries to recover degraded soil areas and contribute to the development of the local economy
