Floating farms of the future

Abu Dhabi-based startup, Manhat, have created a floating water desalination platform, powered by solar energy. Water evaporating from the surface of the ocean is captured, condensed, and collected as fresh water — mimicking the natural water cycle and can avoid the usual desalination by-product of brine. Combined with greenhouse-like structures, the water can be used to irrigate crops, enabling the platforms to become floating, off-grid farms.
