The Solent Cluster confirms attendance and speakers at Innovation Zero at Olympia 24-25 May

The Solent Cluster has announced its attendance and speakers at Innovation Zero - The International Cleantech Congress at Olympic London this month.

On 24-25 May, the event, which is endorsed by the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, will be bringing together 7,000 policymakers, 200 exhibitors and 300 speakers along with innovators, funders and leaders from the public and private sector to gain the knowledge and tools needed to take action and drive the transformation needed to meet the Government’s goal of reaching Net Zero by 2050. Across the two days of world-class discussion and insight, focus will be on the challenges and opportunities in the energy, built environment, transport, industrials and finance sectors.

On day one, the Cluster will be hosting ‘Collaborate to Innovate’, a Panel Event with four of its members demonstrating infrastructure and the ambition for the Cluster. The panel, hosted by Stu Baker, director of The Solent Cluster, will include Michael Foley UK Low Carbon Solutions Executive with ExxonMobil, Joss Clarke, Head of External Affairs at SGN, Anne-Marie Mountifield, Chief Executive of Solent LEP and Lindsay-Marie Armstrong, Associate Professor at the University of Southampton and Solent Academic Cluster lead.

On day two, Anne-Marie Mountifield will be speaking on behalf of The Solent Cluster looking at how the Cluster’s unique membership profile represents a ‘once in a generation opportunity’ to benefit communities, industry and commercial sectors in the region.

The Solent Cluster, which has recently confirmed its submission of an Expression of Interest (EOI) to the UK government as it looks to be considered as an operational cluster, is now the largest membership cluster in the UK boasting 70 members.

Submitted by ExxonMobil, the Cluster’s CCS Transport and Storage lead, the EOI signifies the collective ambition of 70 leading public, private and academic organisations, ready to deliver a truly collaborative decarbonisation solution, as well as the associated employment and economic growth opportunities vital to the Solent region and beyond.

The Solent Cluster is a cross-sector collaboration of international organisations, including manufacturers and engineering companies, regional businesses and industries, leading logistics and infrastructure operators and training providers, with decades of proven expertise in carbon capture and storage and hydrogen technology. It aims to grow the regional economy, protect skilled jobs, and create new employment opportunities in the energy technologies and industries of tomorrow.

Since its launch in November 2022, The Solent Cluster, which is the only project of its kind in the region and as well as offering the prospect of lower carbon energy for homes, businesses, public buildings and transport, The Solent Cluster will also help decarbonise industries in and beyond the Solent region by capturing, processing and storing their emissions.
