We need to reach 5-16 gigatonnes of annual carbon dioxide removal by 2050 if we want to hold global warming to 1.5° C — that’s even in best-case carbon reduction scenarios.¹

At current prices, that means investments of $100 billion to $1 trillion per year will be required. We’re currently removing only 37,000 tonnes durably.²
