Ultralight M2 ebike fast-folds its way toward Brompton-killer status
The Flit M2 is an innovative folding electric bike that aims to redefine urban commuting by offering a lightweight, compact, and efficient alternative to traditional bicycles. Weighing just 14 kg (30 lb), including the battery, the M2 is the lightest model from Flit to date, making it easier to carry and store. When folded, it measures 797 x 600 x 305 mm, which is approximately 25% smaller than previous models, allowing for convenient transport on public transport or under a desk.
This model features a 250-W Mivice rear-hub motor that provides 35 Nm of torque and five levels of pedal-assist, enabling speeds of up to 25 km/h (15.5 mph). The bike is equipped with a 230-Wh lithium-ion battery, offering a range of up to 50 km (31 miles) per charge, which is suitable for most city commutes. The battery can be recharged in about three hours, making it practical for daily use.
Constructed from anodized 6061 aluminum alloy, the M2's frame is designed for durability and ease of folding, utilizing adhesive bonding for a more compact and robust build. The bike accommodates riders up to 1.8 m (6 ft) tall, with an option for an extended seatpost for taller individuals.
Additional features include 16-inch wheels with Schwalbe Marathon tires, Tektro hydraulic disc brakes for reliable stopping power, and integrated LED lighting for enhanced visibility during rides. The bike's LED color display provides essential information at a glance.
The Flit M2 is currently available for pre-order at a price of £1,999 (approximately $2,565), with an introductory offer that includes a £500 discount off the expected retail price. Pre-order customers will also receive fenders and a kickstand, with shipping anticipated in autumn 2024.
