RE24 Facilitated a 10-Year PPA Between Keppel DC REIT and Greencoat Renewables
Greencoat Renewables is supplying up to 67 gigawatt-hours (GWh) of renewable energy annually. The energy comes from its wind farm, Ballybane Phase 1, located in County Cork. Keppel is purchasing the entirety of the electricity generated to power their two co-location data centres.
This PPA marks the history as the first ever PPA for co-location data centre in Ireland, secured from Irish renewable projects. The agreement caters 81% of the data centres’ total demand and saves 222,440 tonnes of CO2 throughout the lifetime. Keppel believes this renewable energy addition supports aligning with Ireland’s Climate Action Plan and the Climate Neutral Data Centre Pact.
This partnership is considered as a significant step towards sustainability in the data centre industry. Keppel targets to powering their Irish facilities with 100% Irish renewable energy by 2030 and Greencoat Renewables is committed to empower Irish grid with renewable energy.
With expertise in PPA aggregation and consultancy, RE24 could provide a comprehensive solution tailored to Keppel’s sustainability needs. RE24 supported the PPA execution with contracting, financial feasibility analysis, due diligence and PPA management. ‘RE24 Insights’ is available for Keppel to track down and monitor the energy supply, cost savings and emission savings from this PPA.
