Alight AB, a leading Swedish company specialising in solar energy solutions. They have embarked on a project to supply electricity from its proposed Hoon Hay solar site to one of the world’s leading food and beverage and consumer goods manufacturer. The electricity supply will occur through a private wire Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Given the complexity of this endeavour, Alight sought the expertise of RE24 Limited, as a renowned consultancy in the provision of hourly matched green energy, to provide comprehensive advisory services. The partnership between the solar energy solution provider and RE24 commenced on 3 July 2024.

Alight aimed to navigate the intricate landscape of private wire PPAs, with an initial phase requiring a sleeved or virtual PPA. The key challenges included understanding the power market, selecting a suitable sleeving provider, and structuring the PPA to optimise both economic and regulatory benefits.

Leading Alight through this journey was a crucial responsibility of RE24. Among the tasks covered by the consulting services were; advisory on sleeving delivery structures, recent case studies analysis, network access to sleeving suppliers, Request for Information (RFI)/Request for Proposal (RFP) preparation, and sleeving provider selection.

The collaboration between is instrumental in advancing the Hoon Hay solar project. Alight gets a deep understanding of the energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGO) optimisation. With RE24’s advisory, the structuring of a PPA to balance both sleeving and private wire arrangements was possible. The selection process navigated by RE24, leads to the identification and contracting of a credible and reliable sleeving provider, ensuring a seamless transition for the customer’s energy needs.
