C-Capture Wins Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Award for Innovation
C-Capture, developers of innovative carbon capture technology, is a Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Award winner after scooping one of the prestigious trophies at a ceremony held at Headingley Stadium last night, 22 November.
The company’s next generation technology – which captures carbon dioxide from flue gas emissions to mitigate climate change – won the ‘Innovation’ category of the awards that celebrate the vital role businesses play in the economic success of Yorkshire. The Innovation award recognises products, services, business models or initiatives that are doing something different, creating change or making a positive difference to clients, customers or staff.
C-Capture’s proprietary solvent-based technology is an innovation for the carbon capture sector. Based on fundamentally different chemistry to other commercially available solutions, the company’s solution is lower cost, environmentally benign and extremely robust. The advantages of C-Capture’s approach mean it has the potential to break through the barriers that are currently preventing the widespread adoption of carbon capture and storage technology – and make a globally significant contribution to tackling climate change.
Tom White, CEO, C-Capture, said: “This is fantastic recognition for our talented team who are committed to developing our next generation technology to its maximum potential to accelerate the adoption of carbon capture in the fight against climate change. A Northern-based innovator with global ambitions, we’ve been at the forefront of developing next generation cleantech for over a decade since we were formed as a spin-out company from the School of Chemistry at the University of Leeds in 2009. We’re incredibly proud to have received this prestigious award.”
