The CMA (UK) was founded in 2020 by Jeff Townsend and Kirsty Benham, both of whom saw that the UK’s industrial and net zero policies do not consider the monopolisation of today’s critical mineral supply chains, and cannot be achieved without a resilient and responsible supply of critical minerals.

The Association unites industry, academia and other actors while pushing the government to address risks in critical mineral supply chains. Our membership is diverse: we represent the entire value chain, from explorers to some of the largest miners globally, as well as processors, manufacters, recyclers, lawyers, financiers, and universities and support services.

We are the Secretariat to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Critical Minerals, chaired by Noah Law MP, and frequently host events at Parliament.
