The Humber is ‘a critical piece of the jigsaw in decarbonising the UK’. It has over £15bn of private investment to deliver projects that will safeguard 1 in 10 existing jobs in the region and provide thousands of new, well paid jobs. It can meet 50% of the UK’s renewable power needs, have enough hydrogen storage to power 2 million homes for a year and eliminate 80% of our CO2 emissions via decarbonisation projects. It’s also home to eight offshore wind farms, including the world’s largest, and 80% of the UK’s licensed CO2 storage capacity.
